An Overview of CaveClan's History
- CaveClan was founded by Echoing Cave, a former Tribe-cat who took a small group of other Tribe-cats to live in the mountains. StarClan chose him to be the first leader of CaveClan, giving him nine lives and naming him Echostar. He named his close friend, Snowy Peak, as his deputy.
- CaveClan's deputy, Snowy Peak, is chosen as CaveClan's first medicine cat, and has to step down from his deputy-ship. Echostar appoints Crystal Moon in his place.
- Little Dove and Quick Bee, two of the younger CaveClan warriors who were born in the Tribe, are found sneaking off to the Tribe's territory at night to visit their friends and family in the Tribe. Snowy Peak, understanding the younger cat's homesickness, suggests Rule 10 of The Warrior Code., "A Gathering of all three Clans and the Tribe is held at every full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans during this time." Little Dove and Quick Bee agree to stop visiting their Tribe relatives, and also suggest Rule 10A of The Warrior Code, "On the longest day of green-leaf and the longest day of leaf-bare (the summer and winter solstices) there shall be a full-day truce where all three Clans and the Tribe can meet up. Apprentices and trainees are allowed to have contests, but everyone's claws must stay sheathed."
- A food shortage in CaveClan leads their leader, Crystalstar, to suggest Rule 4 of The Warrior Code "Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for it's life." Crystalstar's medicine cat, Muddycreek, and one of CaveClan's elders, Tunneltail, suggest Rule 3 and 3A of The Warrior Code, "Elders, queens, kit-mothers, and kits must be fed before any other cat can eat. Unless they have permission, apprentices and trainees cannot eat until they have fed and hunted for the elders," and, "If any warrior, field-runner, camp-guard, apprentice, or trainee is injured they are allowed to eat with the elders, queens, kit-mothers, and kits."
- CaveClan loses a lot of warriors to illness and hunger. Because of this, Crystalstar promotes Opalkit and Onyxkit to apprentices when they are only three moons old, eager to raise the number of warriors in CaveClan. Only a moon into their apprenticeship Opalpaw and Onyxpaw get caught up in a border skirmish on the ForestClan border. Only four moons old, they both suffer serious wounds in the battle. Opalpaw, the smaller and more injured of the two, dies from blood loss. Angered, the mother of the apprentices, Morningsun, suggests Rule 5 of The Warrior Code, "A kit must be at least 6 moons old to become an apprentice or trainee."
- After the death of Crystalstar CaveClan's deputy, Icetalon, is challenged by the warrior Cedarfur for the position of leader. The two toms battle each other for the position of leader; Icetalon ends up killing Cedarfur, but suffers grave injuries himself. He is unable to travel to The Cave of Resting Souls, and spends the next few days recovering in camp. Instead of getting better, Icetalon's wounds catch infection and he passes away before he can receive his nine lives or appoint a deputy for CaveClan. The Clan goes two moons without a leader before Onyxpool, the CaveClan medicine cat, receives a vision from StarClan that tells her that Spiderfall, a popular CaveClan warrior that had taken a leader-like roll in Clan, should take on the position as clan leader. Onyxpool also suggests Rule 7 and 8 of The Warrior Code, "A cat cannot become deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice," and "If there is no deputy to take a leader's place after their death then the Clan's medicine cat will choose the new leader."
- During a particularly dry and green-leaf Rabbitsnout, Mistmoon, Nightrunner, and Mosspaw travel high above the CaveClan snowline for a few days without telling their leader, Thistlestar, in order to find prey. The three warriors get lost when traveling too far above the snowline. Both Mistmoon and Rabbitsnout get severe frostbite, and Nightrunner catches the first case of black-cough seen in the valley passes away only a few days after returning to camp. Mosspaw had gotten a scratch on his leg while above the snowline, which had caught a strange infection that CaveClan's medicine cat couldn't figure out how to heal. In the end they had to remove the limb. Seeing all the damage it had caused the cats, Thistlestar banned all CaveClan cats from traveling above the snowline.
- An earthquake causes a rock slide on the CaveClan mountain. A large amount of the debris from the rock slide ends up falling right onto the ForestClan camp. Many cats are buried and killed under all the rocks and debris from the rock slide. With there only being a handful of living ForestClan cats left, the clan starts to fall apart, and a few younger cats even leave ForestClan in hopes of finding a safe home as a loner. Coalwhisker, Elkroot, Duststripe, and Newtpaw were sent by Thistlestar of CaveClan. Only Elkroot returns to CaveClan, the rest of the cats stay permanently in ForestClan.
