An Overview Of TideClan's History
- TideClan was founded by Ocean Breeze and her brother, Gull's Cry, who later became her deputy. Ocean Breeze was chosen by StarClan to become the first leader of TideClan, and became Oceanstar while naming Gull's Cry her deputy.
- Cloudless Sky became TideClan's first medicine cat. She is also known for climbing the cliff-side that serves as the ForestClan border in order to help a ForestClan cat that had unintentionally walked off the edge of the cliff and gotten stuck on one of the highest ledges. She saves the cat and is the only cat to have ever climbed from TideClan territory to ForestClan territory. Cloudless Sky is also the one that creates the rule that no TideClan or ForestClan cat should attempt to scale the cliffs that serve as the border, since doing so is very likely to get one killed.
- Gullstar becomes the first leader to be openly gay. Gullstar suggests Rule 15 of The Warrior Code, "A cat can love a cat of any gender."
- A TideClan warrior by the name of Wavecrash, once Crashing Waves, finds cave that harbors a large pool of fresh-water. He finds this just as the only fresh-water source in TideClan, a waterfall created by a stream that followed over the border from ForestClan territory, dries up. Wavecrash gets the cave named after him for finding this.
- A disagreement between TideClan's leader, Heronstar, and the leader of the Tribe Hidden in Mist, Lizard Resting on Rock (Lizard), leads to the two groups of cats going to war over Clan/Tribe pride. The war lasts two border skirmishes and three battles, finally stopping when TideClan's medicine cat, Mossfur, gets killed by an unknown warrior/Tribe-cat during battle while trying to save a wounded Tribe-cat. After his death Heronstar and Lizard settle their differences and decide it is for the best of both groups of cats if they agree to have peace. Heronstar suggests Rule 12 of The Warrior Code, "An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless it is necessary for self-defense."
- The first case of green-cough hit TideClan the worst. Many of the stronger warriors were already weakened from the recent battle with the Tribe, and with Mossfur, the medicine cat of TideClan, having been killed during the battle, TideClan was left defenseless. The Clan was left vulnerable and suffered the sickness for many moons, losing over half of its warriors and many elders and kits as well. Hawkstep, one of CaveClan's two medicine cats, chose to leave CaveClan, which was suffering the least from green-cough, and move to TideClan permanently to serve as the TideClan medicine cat. Hawkstep's positive affect on TideClan brought a high respect for CaveClanners in TideClan for many moons. Hawkstep suggests Rule 14 of The Warrior Code, "Each Clan and Tribe has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the four. Each Clan and Tribe must help the others so that none will fall."
- A large majority of ForestClan cats die in a rock slide from the CaveClan mountain. In order to keep ForestClan from dying out the TideClan leader, Poolstar, sends four warriors as well as his deputy, Ridgewolf, to live in ForestClan and out their clan until they have recovered from the rock slide. Ridgewolf, and the four warriors: Goldenfin, Crabfur, Willowcreek, and Hazefrost, all stay in ForestClan for five moons before Poolstar calls them home. Ridgewolf, Willowcreek, and Hazelfrost all decide to stay in ForestClan permanently. Goldenfin takes Ridgewolf's place as deputy of TideClan.
- TideClan's leader, Otterstar, becomes both the youngest leader in TideClan history and the only leader in Clan/Tribe history to have been made a leader without being a deputy first. Despite this he becomes a well-liked and trusted leader of TideClan. One day Otterstar disappears out of the blue. After a moon of his not showing up his deputy, Hollyshade, still refuses to travel to The Cave of Resting Souls to get her nine lives as leader. The Clan spends many, many moons without a leader, until Hollyshade gets too old to continue to lead TideClan and Siltshine, one of the more experienced TideClan warriors, steps up to become the next leader of TideClan. StarClan also reveals to Siltstar that Otterstar had been captured by two-legs while sneaking out of TideClan territory to meet his secret mate, Rosey--a loner who lived on the outskirts of the Tribe's territory.
- For some reason the ocean's fish, which are TideClan's prey, become scarce. TideClan thinks nothing of this at first, but soon they realized that the fish they are catching are carrying a strange disease that the TideClan Medicine Cats, Spottedshell and her apprentice, Littlewave, cannot find a cure for. The new TideClan leader, Sandstar, looses all of her nine lives to the strange sickness. After Sandstar's death her deputy, Seabreeze, declares that TideClan must stop eating fish and hunt for other types of prey. She appoints her mate, Coralheart, as her deputy before going to receive her nine lives from StarClan. With Seabreeze and Coralheart's strong leadership the Clan makes it through many hard and prey-scarce moons. Eventually the fish return and no longer carry the strange disease.
- Sunstar, the TideClan leader, and Heather that Blooms on Moor (Heather), the Tribe's Leader, get into an argument over the use of the moss that can be found on their shared border. Due to Sunstar's stubbornness and Heather's brash nature this argument eventually led to border skirmish that brought on a battle between TideClan and the Tribe. Old and nearing her final life, Heather sends her apprentice, Howl of Lonely Wolf (Howl), to lead an attack against TideClan. The border patrol that Howl runs into is lead by Fishclaw, TideClan's deputy. TideClan ends up winning the battle although their deputy, Fishclaw, is killed. Sunstar, who was distraught by the loss of her deputy, decides to try (and successfully) make peace with Heather. While the battle has stopped, there is still tension between the two groups of cats.
